This was a controversial topic and resulted in many rallies, protests and social media campaigns that opposed this bill. Teachers and other opponents of the bill spoke and Florida’s Governor, Charlie Crist heard and vetoed the bill last week.<br /><br />There are passionate views on both sides of this issue. Crist is feeling the backlash from fellow republicans while the opposition is celebrating this victory.<br /><br />On the one hand, the state wants to ensure that teachers are held accountable and encourage students to do their bests. On the other hand, student’s learning abilities are influenced by a number of factors and not only based on the teacher’s performance. This brings into question whether or not it is fair to put the sole responsibility on the teachers.<br /><br />The fate of Florida’s students lay in the balance as it is still unclear what this veto will mean for Florida’s educational system.
